My name is Hamza, and I’m 20 years-old from northern Gaza. I grew up in a beautiful agricultural area, surrounded by the warmth of family and friends. Life was simple and fulfilling—I had a job, a home, and dreams for the future. But the war turned our world upside down.

Since October 7th, we have had to flee several times, first to the south, then back to the north, and now currently in Sheikh Radwan. I am in charge of supporting 5 families (my family and my siblings’ families — making us 21 members including 12 babies and children). Our family house has been completely destroyed by shelling. We had a tent but it has since completely disintegrated. We have lost everything, our livelihood, our shelter, and we are starving.

We hope and dream of living a beautiful life. Please help us survive. We urgently need food, baby supplies like baby formula and diapers, shoes, and medical supplies. Prices are very high and unfortunately, we are forced to ask for money to continue to survive in this difficult period.

Your kindness and generosity will help us survive. No donation is too small. If you cannot donate, please share our story with your family, friends, and community. Thank you for standing with us during this unimaginable time.

A note from the organizer:

We need $1,250/week to feed 5 families. That breaks down like this:

☕ $8.50 — Feed one person for a day. Just the cost of a sandwich or coffee, but it could mean survival for one person in Gaza.

$50 — Feed one person for a week. Sponsor a week of meals for someone who has no other source of food.

FAQs Does sending money help if there’s barely any food to buy?

A resounding YES. But it’s scarce and astronomically expensive. Only families with outside support can afford to survive. Some examples (as of July 2025, and rising, with commission fees included):

$200 for one week of baby formula (2x babies)

Isn’t aid supposed to be free?

Hamza’s family has not received any aid other than a bit of drinking water. He is an example of many. Aid should be free, but much of it is looted by armed gangs and resold at unaffordable prices. Internal UN documents suggest that these gangs may be receiving active protection from Israel forces to create starvation in the region.

What about the new US aid center?

Hamza has avoided these “aid centers” due to safety concerns. 220+ Palestinians (mostly children) have been shot at point blank range while trying to obtain food. The UN calls these distribution centers “human slaughterhouses”. Critics fear that the deliberate concentration of aid in the south is part of a greater plan to depopulate northern Gaza. This is why direct donations are often the only way to ensure supplies actually reach those who need it.

How do you send money?

I transfer funds to Hamza on a weekly or as-needed basis. He cashes in at informal brokers. These brokers take high commissions (up to 35%). That means for every $100 sent, Hamza may only receive $65. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get funds into Gaza right now.

How do you know these families are real?

I volunteer with Watermelon Connections, a grassroots Palestinian-led mutual aid group. Families are verified through video chat, cross-referencing, and reverse image searches. I speak with Hamza every day. He is real, and his struggle is real.

Thank you for not abandoning Hamza & family.

Hello , Thank you for your continued support.

A quick update: Israel is actively bombing and flattening Gaza City. Hamza and family are very frightened. Hamza and his family are not far from the center, and they will likely have to evacuate again. (This will be the 4th displacement since January of this year.) Evacuation requires money for transporting their few posessions, the kids, and the elderly. Hamza and his siblings who are able-bodied will make the journey by foot. It’s an arduous effort that takes a lot of resources and energy, two things they don’t have much of these days.

They continue to be hungry most of the time. Hamza wrote me today. He has been able to locate food in the market. There is cheese, canned meat, tuna, beans, and vegetables. They haven’t eaten meat in over a year. The supplies will go quickly. If you can make a donation, I can send it to him within minutes. The markets open tomorrow morning (6-7 hours from the time of this message).

Any donation is always helpful, but what is most sustainable right now are recurring donations. If you’re not already a monthly donor, I am asking if you’re willing to commit $50 to $100 per month for atleast one year. This will help provide the family with some assurance of food during this horrific time. This translates into putting aside $2 to $4 per day. These funds don’t have to come from your wallet. You can team up with another family or friends to sponsor a family in Gaza like’s Hamza’s. Your commitment to give directly to campaigns like these help people like Hamza survive starvation. Being a sponsor is as simple as clicking the “Donate Now” button on this campaign page and choosing the “monthly” option on the donation form.

Thank you for your support and being in community,

San & Hamza

If you can make a donation today, I can get the funds into Hamza’s hands in a matter of hours by the time the markets open. They need more food and baby formula, which has been extremely hard to find. Time is of the essence—please activiate your network and share widely.

Commission is now at 50%. For every $100 donated, he receives around $50.

Eternally grateful to everyone.

“Unfortunately, the situation is difficult to explain — more difficult than you can imagine. We are not fine. The bombing becomes more intense every day. People are dying daily from hunger and shelling.

We are one of the last areas that hasn’t been evacuated. The evacuation zone is now only meters away. On July 18, it was the worst day. The bombing was heavy and close, and hunger killed us. I’m tired. I can’t express the amount of pain we’re going through.

Food is nearly impossible to find. There are a few vegetables we can buy, like eggplant and potatoes, but their prices are very high. People are starting to die from hunger.

The children are not well. They all suffer from malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies. I am sick from the cold and from not having food. We need vitamin-rich food.

Dina is 8 months old. She hasn’t had milk in months. She was taken to the hospital due to severe malnutrition. She’s lost so much weight. She’s very weak. She needs milk, but it is not widely available in Gaza. If we are able to find some, it is very expensive.

When we can’t afford food, we risk our lives going to the aid distribution areas. Today I went there hoping to get flour. But the occupation forces opened fire. Drones surrounded us and were firing. Many people were killed. I nearly died today. We go out every day searching for food, and most days we come back with nothing.

The only way we and the children can stay alive is with the money you send.

The family sends their love. You are the most beautiful people in an indifferent world. My hope is that life becomes beautiful for the children.”

From the campaign organizer:

It’s overwhelming, heartbreaking, and enraging to witness what’s happening in Gaza. You’ve probably seen the images of children with hollow faces and bodies reduced to bone. Everyone there is suffering from malnutrition and psychological trauma — including Hamza’s family. But the reason they aren’t in a state of complete starvation is because of people like you. Thank you for your kindness and for helping these families in need. I urge you to spread the word and share the campaign.
